My new stove

Yum! Capers and chickpeas tossed in whole wheat pasta.
Since we are expecting snow this weekend. Here's a nice summer recipe for a
great variation of pesto. How I long to summer to arrive.
Citrus Pesto
1 bunch fresh basil - stemmed (about 3 cups)
1/2 pine nuts, toasted
1 clove garlic
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1 orange, zested and juiced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 cup grated Parmesan
Blend all ingredients except EVOO and Parmesan. Then stream in the olive oil until creamy. Transfer to bowl and stir in Parmesan cheese.
Would be yummy slathered on a piece of fish or mixed in with some pasta and roasted veggies.
I am starving!

Sunshine

This dress makes my heart flutter! I can't wait until 80 degree days are merely more than a once a week occurrence. This adorable dress just screams springtime. With freshly painted red toenails and some bright turquoise sandals. Too bad pretty much every shade of yellow looks terrible on me. Alanda, this would look great on you! You should go buy it :)

Goodbye crooked tie

My husband's tie is always crooked. Please see above. It drives me nuts. So, I got on the web and found the most amazing video that teaches you how to tie a Double Windsor knot. I am now his Julia Roberts. His Pretty Woman, if you will. I have mastered the art of tying a perfect looking knot. Both the hubby and his father's necks will don a straight tie from this day forward.

Pedicure weather is upon us........

Just your typical Thursday evening
Last night I was leisurely shopping at Target on North May. I was in an isle looking at ways to become more organized and there she was......standing by the hangers. Mrs. Wayne Coyne. So naturally, I did what most would do in my situation and followed her! I needed to get a peek in her basket. What does the wife of a famous rock musician purchase at Target? I am not sure what I expected. It was totally normal everyday merchandise. I, on the other hand, was forced to examine what I was carrying (not pushing in a cart)....a lantern, Q-tips and a bathmat. Odd combination. We are alone in the "outdoor accessories" isle and my phone rings. Normal in any other instance. Husband calling (who has no idea where and what I am doing) and his ringtone happens to be "Do You Realize?" Mortified. I then have to set all my merchandise down in the middle of the isle to dig for my phone, which is becoming increasingly louder. It was one of the moments where you just want to die. She looks at me and smiles, but what she's really thinking is that I am a total stalker. I am whispering to Z that I need to call him back. He doesn't know what I am doing, therefore doesn't understand why I am whispering. The experience has gone downhill fast.....ABORT, ABORT! Star struck, yet again.

Spring Cleaning
I cleaned out my closet last week. I got home from work and was in one of those moods. The throwing out/getting rid of/spring cleaning mood. I have been like this for weeks. My husband is about to go nuts. Every time he turns around I am organizing a different part of the house. A closet, a drawer or some nook or cranny that has mass amounts of stuff crammed in it. I love the feeling of accomplishment I get after getting rid of unnecessary junk. It is quite shocking how much we have accumulated in a little less than three years of marriage. We are far from the "bare essential" kind of people. I opened up a box last week that had a ventriloquist doll in it. Seriously? I was forbidden to throw it out. **Sidenote: this is why our house is busting at the seams. I am not allowed to throw out any of Mr. Nash's collection of crap.** The doll is just creepy. Like the ones that come alive and then kill you in your sleep.
My closet was in desperate need of some attention. It is so hard for me to get rid of clothes. I am the type of person that attaches memories to articles of clothing. I still remember what I wore on my first date with my husband. Consequently, I still have the shirt, jeans and shoes because I can't bring myself to let them go even thought I know I will never wear them again. I always think, "I might wear that when I go to........" But the reality is I never will. So, I ceased the moment and stopped overanalyzing and just got rid. Three piles. Garage sale, Goodwill and Consignment. I have a feeling three piles will quickly become two. Two years ago when we had our 1st garage sale, I was insulted when these women would come up and ask me if I would take 50 cents for a shirt I knew I have paid big bucks for. I would say.... "You know this is designer, right?" I am sure I sounded snobby to them and I know they could have cared less. I finally sold all my clothes to this young mother who took everything remaining and gave me $25. As I packed everything up for her, I seriously felt sick at my stomach. Then I realized, she needed these clothes far more than I did and I felt so much better. So, here is the finished product. Looks tons better and I still have plenty to wear :)

50th Anniversary

In honor of her golden anniversary, I decided to dig out my Barbies and reminisce. My mother gladly brought them as she has been trying to get me to take all my stuff for the past few years. Barbies were a huge part of my younger years. I could play with them for hours and hours. Dress them and fix their hair. So, here they are.....in all their glory. Several things I should mention. I kept them in the clothing I found them in. Basically, I decided not to change them because I thought it would be a more authentic depiction. I also found concert tickets and a check (that I had made) in one of the gold purses. My husband and I were dying laughing. Even back then I had to have the perfect clutch to match Barbies outfit. And lastly, the cowboy boots that are worn with what appears to be a seafoam green evening gown. Classy! Happy Birthday, Barbie!
